the history of swinging...
Swinging has been around for many years, probably a lot longer than anyone reading this can remember. Some claim swinging has been around since the dawn of time, although I can’t imagine it being called swinging so long ago. They probably had a weird name for it. We’ll get onto how swinging got its current name later. People these days hold no stigma towards the sharing of married partners, well the majority of cultures. There are still a select few who believe wife swapping or the sharing of your partner should not be allowed although it is and will be accepted by most throughout the coming years. Swinging has not always been called swinging, it was first called “Wife Swapping” I believe in the early 50’s and practised in the United States – mainly Southern California and the surrounding states. I believe it was first reported in the military where officers would frequently swap their married partners. You can imagine how boring it gets on a military base, particularly if you’re married. I’m guessing this was just a way of releasing some of the tension of having just one partner. Then came the “key clubs” they were called key clubs as the husbands (not single blokes) reportedly put their house/car keys into a pile/bowl in the room where certain keys were drawn at random by the wives of the men. Once a wife chose a set of keys, the owner of that key was the chosen sexual partner for the evening. Unfortunately, if a shocker picked up your keys, you were stuck with her and would have to swing away throughout the night. If you’re ever doing this these days, it’s probably best to get a good look at the wives before parting with your bunch of keys! Several years later, you started seeing lots of national and local magazines catering for the needs of these key club / swingers – swingers used to place adverts in such magazines in the hope of attracting new sexual partners. This is similar to the swinger personals we see around today. Such publications offered column after column of personals and even illustrated nude or very, very revealing photos placed by both men, women and couples. Swinging continued to grow through the various parties/clubs that were popping up all over America and England. Through these swinger personals systems couples and singles could find the like minded sexual partners they desired. The back bone of swinging has always been the individual men and women who have adopted swinging as part of their lifestyle. These people now live all over the world. Nobody really knows how many swingers there are in the world today, but rest assured it’s a lot! And continuously growing! It is reported that some 25% of American married couples will try their hand at swinging at some point during their married life. For an excellent swinger resource, Click Here |
